Chess tournament

A chess is a game for two players each of whom moves 16 pieces according to fixed rules across a checkerboard and tries to checkmate the opponent’s king.

Chess tournament therefore is a sequence or series of chess games which is played in a competitive manner to determine a winner either individually or as a team.

The first international chess competition was held in London in 1851 and has since become a serious competition among serious minded chess players.

Among the famous tournaments for individuals competitions are the Linares chess tournament and Tata Steel chess tournament. While the biggest team chess tournament is the Chess Olympiad. The 1950s, saw chess computers coming into the tournament scene. Tournament are organized by  World Chess Federation (FIDE) and the rules are contained in the handbook and are majorly organize in 3 different styles namely:-  Swiss system style , round-robin style and elimination style to determine a winner.
